Russian translation

The beauty of different cultures is the very fact that they are different.  Different to our own and others.  What’s intriguing is how cultures differ in beliefs, traditions, attitudes and etiquette.

Some differences we are happy to embrace, others we might not agree with or feel comfortable with and some are completely incomprehensible to us.

Stereotyping
It’s fair to say that we may have preconceived ideas of a country’s inhabitants and their culture without ever having visited their country or without ever having met anyone from that country for that matter.  That’s probably because we are greatly influenced by stereotyping especially when we don’t have personal experience to draw from.  This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as there is often an element of truth to the stereotype.

Russian translationIn the business world
If you are hoping to do business with another country, for example Russia, then it’s beneficial to have some understanding of their language and culture and be respectful of it.  It will most certainly aid your business relationship.

Insider knowledge
Did you know that to commence a business meeting with Russians you’ll need a firm handshake and be comfortable with maintaining eye contact?  If you don’t, you may be perceived as untrustworthy.  You’ll also be expected to be punctual even if your Russian colleagues are not.

Enigma Translation’s professional interpreters can help you overcome these cultural minefields in face-to-face meetings, networking scenarios and at corporate events.

The Russian language
According to Wikipedia there are 160 million native speakers of Russian in Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine making it the 8th most spoken language in the world by native speakers.  It also ranks as the 4th most spoken language in the World as defined by the total number of speakers.  And it’s one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

The need for a translator
Russian is the most widely used Slavic language so if you’re about to embark on business in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan Estonia, the Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania and Moldova you will find our Russian translation service invaluable.

When it comes to business communication it’s imperative to use a translator to ensure a smooth working relationship and understanding of documentation from emails, reports, contracts to marketing campaigns.

Using a professional translator from Enigma Translation will ensure your Russian translation needs are met fully.  Your specially selected translator will be fluent in Russian as it is their mother tongue; will have expert knowledge of the Russian culture and expertise in the subject matter to be translated.  Thus providing an accurate translation whilst retaining the original document’s meaning and context.

To find out just how we can help you with your Russian translations, call us on +44 (01604) 750 799, email us or visit our website or Facebook page and we’ll be happy to discuss your requirements.

Website translation

Have you noticed how the inclusion of multiple languages on product packaging has increased over the years?  Food products have benefited from this for a long time, but now more and more products often provide the directions for use, product name, description and ingredients in many languages.

This could be a reflection of our ever increasing multicultural society but is most certainly the result of companies repositioning their brands to become global super-brands.  Think Jif to Cif, Ulay to Olay, Opal Fruits to Starburst, Marathon to Snickers and so on.

Website translationAnd the point is?
Take your product or service.  Just as those companies have recognised that providing product information in a multitude of languages attracts and appeals to a wider customer base, so too could your product or service.  If you have an online presence in the form of a website and are hoping to reach a global audience, translating your website content into multiple languages is the key.

Why?
There are many reasons.  Not all Internet users speak or understand English.  For some it is not even their second language, which could mean you are not reaching as broad an audience as you might think with a website solely in English.

Although English is regarded as the International language of business, it’s now struggling to hold onto the top spot with other languages fast approaching as they become more widely used.

New clients and customers are more likely to use your service or buy your product if they fully understand what is on offer and this is best achieved in their own language.

Also your website’s content in the English language may be search engine optimised but it’s fighting to achieve high search engine rankings in an already overcrowded environment.  This is because search engine companies are primarily American and use computer languages that are a sub set of the English language, which means you are competing with a lot of other sites.

How can Enigma Translation help?
Our Website Translation service can translate your website into multiple languages.  Our professional translators have expertise in the languages and cultures of the target audiences you are trying to reach, as well as in website translation.

This will ensure that the translation of your website is:

  • Culturally appropriate including the content of images, gestures in images, logos and colours
  • Target audience appropriate
  • Navigationally appropriate to take into consideration that not all languages are read from left to right as with Western languages.  For instance Chinese and Japanese are read from top to bottom and Arabic is read from right to left
  • Accurate, in context and true to your brand

And in SEO terms your translated website’s linked keywords and phrases will score highly in search engine rankings because foreign language content is less prevalent than English.

If you want to open your virtual doors to more potential new clients and customers, give us a call on +44 (01604) 750 799, email us or visit our website or Facebook page to see how we can help you.

The different languages Enigma can translate

If you’re an avid reader of our blog you’ll know that Enigma Translation’s professional translators are able to translate over 114 different languages.  But do you know exactly which languages those are?

The familiar ones
Our global network of over 2,000 professional translators cover a multitude of widely used languages across the world.  From European languages including the Romance group of French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian and Catalan, to the languages of Asia: Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Malay to name but a few.

Translation servicesBut not just…
Of those familiar languages we also translate variations.  For instance when we say we translate Chinese that also includes Cantonese, Mandarin and Putonghua.  Of the Norwegian language we are also equipped to translate Bokmol, Nynorsk and Riksmal.

The same language can also be spoken in different countries resulting in more variations.  The French language differs in Africa, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland and Luxembourg.  The German spoken in Austria and Switzerland is different to the German spoken in Germany.  With Portuguese translation we can translate the African and Brazilian variations too.  And with Spanish, the Latin American variants as well.

The not so familiar ones
Our professional linguists can also translate less familiar languages listed here:

Basque – or Euskara spoken in the Basque Country in Spain located on the French-Spanish border in the western Pyrenees

Belarusian – belongs to the Slavic group of languages and is spoken in Belarus but also in Russia, Ukraine and Poland

Dari – belongs to the Indo-Iranian group of languages and is spoken in Afghanistan along with Pashto

Faroese – belongs to the Insular Nordic language group and is spoken in the Faroe Islands and also by Faroese people in Denmark

Farsi and Persian – both spoken in Iran

Galician – belongs to the Romance language group and is spoken by the Galicia people of north west Spain

Gujarati – belongs to the Indo-Aryan language group and is spoken in Gujarat State on the west coast of India

Hebrew – modern Hebrew is predominantly spoken in Israel

Lingala – is a Bantu language spoken in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo

Tamil – belongs to the Dravidian language group and is spoken in southern India, Sri Lanka and Singapore

You can find a complete list of the languages we can translate on the Enigma Translation website or contact us if it’s not listed as we may still be able to help you.  Whether your translation needs are for business or for a personal matter, we speak your language.

Translation for individuals as well as business

We’re not sure if you know this, but Enigma Translation help individuals with their translation needs on a daily basis.  Basically, we provide translation services and interpreters to more than just businesses.

There are many scenarios that take us abroad – holidays, work, study, owning a holiday let, relocating, retirement – either short term or long term.  But all introduce us to a different culture and often a new language.

Translation servicesGenerally as UK citizens we are very fortunate that English is a widely understood and spoken language across the globe, but when it comes to the written word sometimes our phrase book just isn’t enough.  And even if you’ve been fastidious enough to begin learning the language of your destination, there will be circumstances when you will need expertise and translation in a specialised area.

When you might need Enigma Translation
Living in a foreign country is fun and exciting but it can also produce a lot of paperwork, which can become a minefield if it’s in a language you don’t understand.

Medical
Straightforward things like finding a new doctor or dentist may require registration and details of your medical history.  Help with Medical Translation is vital to ensure any existing illnesses, conditions and medical requirements are conveyed and understood.  Interpreters can be essential in these situations.

Legal
Perhaps there’s an issue with your work permit/visa and you need to seek legal advice.  Or you may be legally obliged to pay taxes as a resident.  Enigma Translation can offer Legal Translation of documents or arrange for an interpreter to be present at any meetings you might need with a solicitor.

Perhaps you’re marrying overseas.  You may need to acquire a marriage permit or licence and of course there will be the marriage certificate.  And if you decide to start a family you will need to register the birth of your son or daughter too.  Again we can help with the Legal Translation of registration documents and certificates and Medical Translation of hospital documentation.

Property and Finance
Of course if you’ve relocated abroad be it for work, study, the summer or retirement, you’ll need somewhere to call home.  We cover all aspects of Property Law Translation and Financial Translation so will be able to help you if you are renting, buying, letting or selling a property.  We can also offer you the same support if you are managing this from the UK.

These are just a few examples of where our huge network of professional linguists and interpreters can help.  For details of the 114 languages we are versed in and the other specialist areas we can offer translation, please see our website.

Medical Translation

Enigma Translation‘s Medical Translation service covers a vast area and is highly specialised.  Accuracy and efficiency is crucial as is expert knowledge of the medical sector, medical texts and hospital procedures in different countries.  Without stating the obvious, a poor or timely translation could mean the difference between life and death.

Let’s face it when we find ourselves in a medical situation as hard as we try to process the information we’re given at the time, we often come away questioning whether we’ve fully understood what was said.  What made sense in the doctor’s surgery, A&E or in the consultant’s room at the hospital is suddenly not so clear.

medical translationDon’t lose your head
So transport yourself to another country with a different language and understandably the situation can become a whole lot more scary and stressful.  However if you find yourself in this predicament, be it requiring medical or dental assistance whilst on holiday or as a new resident in a new country, Enigma Translation can help.

Not only do we take the mystery out of the language but also out of the situation.  Engaging the services of our professional translators to help with translating medical documentation can reduce the additional anxiety and stress of not fully understanding the situation or diagnosis.

On home ground
Perhaps on your return from another country you need to pass your medical documentation to your own doctor or insurance company.  Enigma Translation can help with the Medical Translation of patient information papers, consent forms, prescriptions, test results and discharge papers to name but a few.

Of course you may have opted for a medical procedure or alternative therapies to be carried out overseas or the family pet may have travelled with you on holiday and needed veterinary attention.  Many of these will generate medical paperwork that you may wish to have translated.

Make your business our business
On a business level perhaps you are providing a medical service abroad or dealing with medical documentation such as reports, journals, questionnaires, brochures or instructions for medical equipment that require translating.  Again our professional team of linguists can help.  We will assign a translator who is expert in the source language, target language and particular medical sector you are dealing with.

Also if you are running a restaurant or bar overseas and need to understand Health and Safety procedures in a foreign country and translate the documentation that goes with it, we can help with that too.

Medically speaking
In fact Enigma Translation has translation experience in all of the following medical areas: Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Radiology, Psychiatry, Preventative medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary, Alternative therapies, Health and safety, Public health and Pharmaceuticals.

Whatever your Medical Translation needs, Enigma Translation is here to help.  Get in touch to find out more by calling +44 (01604) 750 799 or by email if you prefer.  You’ll also find details on our website and our free instant quote facility too.

And if for any reason there are legal implications with your medical situation abroad, we can also provide legal translation.

Website translation

Mandarin, English and Spanish are the most spoken languages in the world and therefore the most common languages of Internet users.

Calling all Internet users
According to research by Internet World Stats for May 2011, there are 565,004,126 English language users, 509,965,013 Mandarin language users and 164,968,742 Spanish language users globally.  A contributing factor as to why English is at the top of the list is because the primary search engine companies are American and computer languages are also a sub set of the English language.

Get more than a slice of the action
However, despite English being widely understood around the globe and the international language of business, it is not the second language of every Internet user worldwide.  Therefore a website solely in English is not reaching the full market.  There are still pockets of attainable business to be had.

Wouldn’t it make sense then to translate the message your website is promoting into the native tongue of the audience or audiences you are trying to attract?  Wouldn’t it speak louder to new visitors?

Sending a clear message
Fully understanding what services or products are on offer from your website is essential to instilling trust in your new clients/customers.  If those clients/customers speak a different language, surely providing website content in their language or multiple languages is the obvious solution?

Global aspirations
By using the website translation service of Enigma translation you can make yourself heard and understood across the Internet, potentially connecting with a broader audience where your competitors aren’t.  You’ll also benefit from your website’s linked keywords and phrases being in a foreign language as they will score highly in search engine rankings.  This is because there is less foreign language content online compared to English, hence less competition.  This will also help to improve your visibility.

Linguistically helpful
With the help of an Enigma translator you’ll not only benefit from their knowledge of the language and culture, but their expert knowledge of website translation too.  They’ll be on hand to advise you and should the need arise suggest a more culturally acceptable way of getting your message across.

Fluent in over 70 languages
From English to Somali, Belarusian to Turkish, we’ve got the language skills to support your business across the globe.

Marketing translation

A successful marketing campaign is often based on a clever play on words or a subtle manipulation of the language to deliver a unique and memorable message.  It gets the audience’s attention, gets them talking and they answer the call to action.  They ‘buy’ into the message the company is sending or the product they are showcasing.

Globally correct?
But what happens when you want to convey the same message globally to multiple countries with different cultures?  How can you be sure you will be sending the same message in a language you are unfamiliar with?  And does it translate culturally?  After all offending a whole nation could certainly damage your brand.

Don’t get lost in translation
Delivering a stand out message is key to your marketing campaign’s success, but only if it is memorable for the right reasons.  Historically big brands have fallen foul of the perils of incorrect language translation – clearly they didn’t use Enigma Translation  – and have therefore stood out for all the wrong reasons.

Take Coca-Cola for instance, they used characters from the Chinese language that represented the sound of the words ‘Coca-Cola’ for their campaign in the Chinese market.  Unfortunately the characters translated as ‘bite the wax tadpole’, which is less than appealing.

Coor’s translation for ‘Turn it Loose’ in the Spanish language implied suffering from diarrhoea – a far cry from its intended message of a relaxing time when enjoying their beer.

Pepsi’s slogan ‘Come Alive With Pepsi’ fell flat in the German language when it translated as ‘Come Out of the Grave with Pepsi’.

An entrepreneurial American printed T-shirts in both English and Spanish to mark the Pope’s visit to Miami.  The English version read ‘le Papa’ (the Pope) but the Spanish language version read ‘la papa’ which unfortunately translates as ‘I saw the potato’!  Scarily sometimes all it takes is the mix up of a single letter and poor punctuation to completely change the message.

Avoid language faux pas
That’s why it’s imperative for marketing translation that you choose the best translation service available.  Enigma Translation has a global network of over 2000 linguists specialising in over 70 languages and you will be paired with a translator who specialises in all marketing and promotional disciplines.

Whether you require marketing translation for press releases, flyers, brochures, newsletters, emails or a whole marketing campaign, we can guarantee you will send the right message – the message you intended – in your chosen language.

Get in touch by email or by calling us on +44 (01604) 750 799 with your requirements.
